Barley Hall

Barley Hall is a stunning medieval townhouse, once home to the Priors of Nostell and the Mayor of York.

The Building has been lovingly restored to its original splendour with stunning high ceilings, beautifully exposed timber frames, and has been decorated to replicate what it would have looked like around 1483 complete with a magnificent Great Hall.

The exhibition Plague, Poverty and Prayer delves into York's past to uncover intriguing details about illnesses and diseases from the Norman invasion to Tudor times and new for 2010, Stonegate Voices; Explore the history of York, and Barley Hall in particular, from the late 1400s to the present day.
